Madison — The state Senate Tuesday is scheduled to help schools adrift in snow days, overhaul campaign laws in Wisconsin and pass several wide-ranging bills affecting Milwaukee.
With only a few days of floor sessions left, Senate GOP leaders are packing Tuesday’s schedule with proposals representing some of their biggest disagreements with Democrats. But the Senate likely is leaving many other controversial bills to die as lawmakers draw close to ending their work for the year.
The Milwaukee bills would allow Marquette University to create its own police department, shift leadership of the county mental health complex, end weekend absentee voter drives in the city and help clear the way for a massive development near Lake Michigan.
