Republican strategists who are confident about a Walker victory believe that as the election approaches and the Walker campaign mixes in more positive messages about Walker’s record with the ongoing attacks on Burke, his numbers will climb back up toward the “right direction” number, which has consistently topped 50 percent this year….
The fact that the governor is underperforming the “right direction” number is a danger sign and suggests some small but critical group of swing voters has become disenchanted with him. Democratic strategists argue he has alienated some of these voters by being too conservative or too divisive or too focused on his presidential ambitions.
